Even though the ability to run naked through the woods in my home country (the US) may not be legal in many parts of this vast place, I am fortunate that even if I am skirting the law, I do have a great deal more freedom to express myself than some of the other examples you write about. We all have to appreciate what we have, many others have so much less freedom to enjoy the pleasures of naturism.

Thank you very much for this nice article. It reveals as to how painstaking is for the naturists across many countries where in naturism is illegal. I am one of the unfortunates. What you have said is very correct & you must be very grateful to your society & the lawmakers...

On the one hand, the freedom of society consists of the freedoms of individuals. Including the freedom to be naked. On the other hand, the freedom of society is regulated and dosed by the power of this society, in accordance with the interests and goals of this power at a particular moment in history.

That is, the government determines and regulates the level of freedom of society from its own interests and, accordingly, the list of permissible freedoms of an individual.

Only when the government is interested in naturism, only then the freedom to be naked will become the right of the whole society.

In a democratic society, the government will only become interested in the freedom to be naked when the concept pervades society, which then demands it of the government. So the first step is for naturists to come out of hiding and make being naked a trend that people will want to follow. Democratically elected governments don't rule the country. The people do.

Our laws are becoming MORE strict about nudity. Here in the United States especially. Things USED to be more open here, not totally accepting, but FAR better than they are now. The Northern European and Nordic countries used to be so much more sensible about nudity, but I am not aware of their current situation.

I fear that you may be correct, at least in the U.S. I am not sure what the reasons behind it are, but it seems that there are numerous instances where freedoms are being curtailed and limited. I read with almost disbelief that Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet was being removed from school shelves. I wonder how long it will be until the Bible is the only text allowed.

I see there are some places in the US where they are trying to get the bible banned to highlight the dangers of book banning; picking out parts of the Old Testament that refer to things like rape and incest campaigners are making a pretty convincing case!
