Bob, this article nailed what so many naturists (and others) have felt for years. I was born in the 50s and the only skin care products I was familiar with and people I knew used was Ponds Cold Cream, Noxzema, Ivory Soap, Baby Oil and Vaseline. They worked fine and my family's skin remained clear and youthful into their 80s. Mom died at 96 and she barely had a wrinkle. Of course we all know "Black don't crack" so that helps a lot. ; ) For the past few years, we are seeing women and men of different sizes, colors, skin types and untraditional relationships in commercials. That's a HUGE step forward. Having articles like what you've shared and Jessica's is so needed and I just subscribed to her podcast. I'd love to see her as a keynote speaker at Naturist festivals and conventions.
There's an interesting documentary series "The Century of the Self" that deep dives into public relations and marketing. Worth a watch on You Tube, and synopsis here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Century_of_the_Self
Oh I believe it. It fits perfectly with the old dictum of the advertising business - Listerine didn’t invent mouthwash, they invented bad breath. Ever since the industry’s approach has been just what you said, create the fear then sell the solution. But even do ..... scrotum deodorant?????!!!!!???

Thanks Brent, I'll check it out.
Nailed it, as usual! But ..... scrotum deodorant?? Really???
I kid you not. It's a thing. I would argue it's a thing we don't need, but advertisers are creating a market for a product that people will buy.
