It's mainly for this very reason that I no longer go to beaches that have a "traditional naturist beach" status. Those are the only ones you find meerkat behaviour - some worse than others. Meerkats don't go to general public beaches, and it's never a problem finding a suitable spot there to skinny dip and sunbathe. Clothed people in general have no problem with a naked person behaving appropriately. At Opoutere and Kaiaua I've even had family groups set up their picnic spot only a few meters away from me without any issue.
Then there are the creepy males that walk along the beach fully clothed where there are nudists and plonk themselves down a few metres away from you and sit there for a while perving at you and your Mrs. I get pissed off and tell them to leave in no uncertain terms.
