Thank you for your comments. You are right, it is often the few that ruin it for the many. We don't have dedicated nude beaches here in New Zealand, technically it's not illegal to be naked in public so you can be nude on any beach. At our local beach which is popular with naturists, there is a small group of gay men who lurk in the dunes seeking sexual encounters. These men are labelled as meerkats by local naturists, as they pop up, look around and then retreat, much like the African mongoose that they are named after. These activities often catch the attention of the public and sometimes the police, and adversely affect the reputation of genuine social naturists in the area.

If anyone knows the recipe for keeping people from using naturism as an excuse for sexualised behaviour, then I would appreciate knowing it, but I won't hold my breath. In the meantime, all I can do is keep writing from my naturist point of view. I am not necessarily looking to convert people to naturism, although it would always be nice to have more naturists in our growing community, I would prefer to have more people understand the philosophy without all the misconceptions.
