In my post last week I asked the media not to report about nudity and naturist events as if they are 12-year-old boys sniggering behind the bike sheds. I was recently made aware of a media article, which highlights another threatening reporting style on matters of nudity.
I know naturists are a minority and can be accused of communicating in a bubble, which reinforces our perception of mainstream acceptance, and I appreciate that most of the public is indifferent to our message rather than hostile, but reporting like that mentioned in my article is not only Victorian, it is dangerous.
That was the conclusion I expected the article to come to, or at least offer a credible alternative, but to use the headline to draw readers in and then go on a personal rant was disingenuous at best.
It makes my blood boil. We are back in the Victorian age when god forbid, a person should show more flesh than necessary.
